PICTURE AT LEFT
These mares are drinking together. It is common in this area for horses to get one drink a day. This is so, even in the hot summer months. This is why the horses pace themselves while traveling. During the cold winter months they drink less then in the summer.

Some people like to see long manes on wild horses. This mane extends all the way down the chest of the mare. The picture below is of the same mare.
It took me 6 weeks to photograph this mares mane. She is a very timid and spends all of her time hiding behind the other horses.
